Nope Lee is gone, they must like Scruggs' blocking ability.
I would guess the same. Scruggs also has some pretty good athleticism for a big guy that may also work out longer term for him as a pass catcher deep in the red zone. But they really do like his blocking ability. I think Paulsen replaced Lee for the same reason plus Lee has PS eligibility.
IMHO the final roster for the TE spots may still be far from settled. Miller is the only established pass catching TE we have on the roster which tells me either Moeaki or Housler may be re-signed after week one when their salaries are no longer guaranteed for the entire year.
It's always hard to figure out the exact thinking behind all of the shuffling of roster deck that goes on when these final cuts take place. Some of these guys may have been told to hang loose and if they clear waivers they'll be signed to the PS and some of the vets may have been told they'd like to bring them back after week one. It's tough to tell just yet.
Come on now. You knew there was some risk in getting him through waivers.
Actually cutting Braverman and at least trying to get him onto the PS didn't shock me near as much as the decision to cut Mariani and keep Royal. That one confounds me more but hopefully they'll bring Mariani back after week on when they won't need to guarantee his salary.
That and keeping Kwiatkowski before, well anybody
Kwiatkowski....say it with me now......Kwiatkowski. how can ya NOT hold onto that with all your might. That name is now a verb and a noun.. i.e. you facking Kwiatkowski, now go and Kwiatkowski it back to where it should be!
P.S. I am drinking beer ND wine and might add some rye whiskey to tha mix..maybe I should make that a poll. Should tha drunk Canuck add rye to the mix? Oh BTW I have sabered champagne and might do it at home with a Rambo knife of a Cleaver...maybe another poll LOL
FWIW I don't know what we gained from signing Kush. He must have something to offer since he stuck with LA 'til the final cuts but he's never started or even played much in four seasons.
Leblanc on the other hand @ 5'9"/195lbs he appears to be a solid possibility for a slot CB or small Safety. Another Demontre Hurst type it would seem.
Strengths: Stocky, muscular build. Plays with exceptionally strong hands clutching and challenging receivers from press. Allowed just 34.5 percent completion rate in 2015. Impressive mirror and match footwork to stick to his targets and stay in position to make plays on the ball. Aggressive in coverage and competes hard at the top of the route against physical receivers. Quick twitch athlete with explosive hips to leap and defend 50/50 throws. Has kick return ability.
Weaknesses: Too small to play outside. Doesn't have desired recovery speed if beaten over the top. Lack of top-end speed and length could create substantial issues defending deep throws. Can be forced out of the way in run support by bigÂ-bodied receivers with good arm extension. Relies too heavily on grabbing and holding when routes stem.
Draft Projection: Undrafted free agent
Bottom Line: Hard not to love his competitiveness and ability to match a receiver's footwork off the line of scrimmage, but those qualities might not be enough for teams who push short corner backs down their draft boards. LeBlanc might need to run a fast 40-yard dash in order to give him a chance to hear his name called on Day 3 of the draft as a slot corner and kick returner.
But omg braverman is a starter how has he not been picked up yet?

That is exactly what they did with Acho last year.

Many Patriot's insiders are disappointed by this move: shocked, in fact, the Patriots waived him to begin with. To be clear, I don't know anything about this kid but I do know the Bears ran three practices and played a PS game against the Patriots in which they were able to gather a lot of information on players of interest. Clearly Leblanc intrigued them AND they had a solid profile of the kid after their exhibition.
One thing to monitor is Leblanc's ability to return punts/kickoffs a duty he held at Florida Atlantic. He didn't serve in this role with the Patriots during the PS games (though he might have in practice) but he was one of two primary returners in college so he has that going for him here (though his 40 time suggests otherwise). Additionally, he has good ball skills (had a number of BP and an interception in PS play) that translate, seemingly, into the program. He's aggressive and competitive and those two qualities in and of themselves would seem to set him apart from Hurst. Seems like a slot corner with the ability to play STeams.
I like the move. Hurst never showed more than bubble potential and he had his shot at this game. Good move bringing someone new in they like.

There was a risk, but it wasn't a great risk, and if it had happened it wasn't a great loss.

Hoo hoo, well I'll remind you that you said that when he becomes a top slot guy. I just hope it's with us is all. I'll bet ya' a buck he makes you eat those words. Are we on? LOL
