But omg braverman is a starter how has he not been picked up yet?
Come on now. You knew there was some risk in getting him through waivers.
Actually cutting Braverman and at least trying to get him onto the PS didn't shock me near as much as the decision to cut Mariani and keep Royal. That one confounds me more but hopefully they'll bring Mariani back after week on when they won't need to guarantee his salary.

Was told that no players released by #Bears on Saturday were picked up in waiver claims.
There we go... no fear needed
I wouldn't say no fear at all but at least we got some breaks here because we sure haven't gotten any as far as injuries are concerned.
No players released by Bears were claimed by other teams

The NFL released the full list of all players claimed on waivers Sunday afternoon following every teams’ cut down to 53-players, and it was lacking former Chicago Bears players. In fact, no players the Bears waived this weekend were claimed by other teams, as the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs confirmed.
That means all of the team’s practice squad eligible players are free to return to the Bears’ 10-man squad, should Ryan Pace want them. Players like Daniel Braverman, Ben Braunecker, John Timu and De’Vante Bausby are all free to be stashed.
Pace will almost certainly look to the unclaimed players from all 31 other teams to fill his practice squad, but he is fortunate to not have automatically lost some of his more talented younger players that he decided to leave off of the full roster.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that as the Bears continue to finalize their 53-man roster and add players cast off from other teams, more players currently on the team will be released, and another waiver period starts for them before those who are eligible can be added to the practice squad.
Stay tuned to Bears Wire for updates on who Pace adds to his practice squad.

That and keeping Kwiatkowski before, well anybody
I wasn't all that surprised by that other than possibly keeping Anderson over Timu but even that makes sense to me. Anderson is the backup to Trevathan whose the "Jack" ILB and Kwiatkoski and Timu are more "Mike" type ILBs so they were behind Freeman.
My guess is Pace and Fox felt it would be easier to get Timu through waivers and onto the PS then Kwiatkoski and it looks like Timu as one of the very first added to the PS so I guess that also tells us they want to keep him around too.
Over the next week to ten days both the active roster and the PS will get shuffled again a few times and maybe one or two vets will return once they don't have to guarantee their full salary for the year as they would if they're on the roster week one.
