I never thought Pace got fleeced, but questioned if it was necessary. This confirms there was competition up front and he did the right thing if Mitch is our guy. The more concerning part is that the Browns wanted him. They're certainly not a team that has luck picking good QBs.
Neither do we...but like them we have a new GM making the picks.
Seeing and reading more about him, I have to say the biggest flaws are coachable. His lack of experience was the reason for 3 or 4 Turnovers. His pocket awerness was bad on a few plays while he starred a WR down the field. On some other plays, deep throws, He underthrow the pass and he did not trust his WR on a 50/50 ball.
It happened every once in a while. It always looked like he just didn't know how to handle those plays properly. On some other plays, he hasn't had the footwork needed and Not planting the foot on the field. It worked for him, but could be better.
Thats coachable for sure and He has what you can't teach.
I can understand that CLE wants out of mediocre-land and to get out, you need a QB.
If CLE can get to mediocre land, they should be thankful. I think Lovie can still be gotten.

We'll never get a great QB (or even above average) if we don't draft them so I'm good with the pick. Pace's approach to have him sit out a season is very smart from my perspective. Especially since Mitch doesn't have a lot of starts in college.

He force created the ideal situation that I was looking for. Game manager or better level QB (I think/hope) who can hold down the offense while a young rookie comes in and learns the offense at a realistic pace. I'm not too big on rookie QB's starting so it's really awesome that we get the chance to try and groom up a rookie. Plus while we have that high pick, I don't think this team is built for a rookie to succeed. A draft and offseason from now though we may be much better suited for a Trubisky debut.
Reading about the Browns owner wanting him and how it's a perfect script (Ohio native,Mr. Ohio, Browns fan, etc) and they ended up missing him almost makes me feel more reassured. Like what follows the cliche NFL script more the Browns missing on Mr. Ohio and him dominating for a different franchise who has struggled to find a QB? It just seems like how it would go, ya know?
He is coachable, like to see him sit until we get better T play, even if that means a full year. I know this is the stated "plan" but every one of our QBs went down for significant time and I'd rather Mitchell doesn't play of the bench in that situation.
