BSBears Langford was the starter when the season started, it was never even a competition.
Good point but Fox does not like to start rookies, and Loggains has stated they had no idea what they had in Howard. Guess if they would have had open eyes they would have started him rather than Langford the beginning of the season. Still by drafting Howard I do not believe Langford was a long term plan.
Exactly, they didn't know what they had in Howard, Carey was never expected to be the starter, which is why he had to learn ST's. Langford was expected to start, he was supposed to be the starting rb for hte Bears.
Howard was drafted in the 5th round, he wasn't expected to the be long term answer at rb, just a different piece, probably a guy to push Carey.
Some have mentioned "3 QBs, 4 RBs, 4 TEs, and 5 WRs" but what about a FB? If a FB can play STs, will he knock out a TE or RB? I can't imagine we carry less than 5 WRs, especially if one is Bellamy (a STer).
Probably carry 3 TE's, Miller(until he gets hurt again), Dion Sims, Shaheen, then try and stash one on the PS.
I expect that will be either Braunecker or Pruitt. My guess is Brown is gone along with the loser of the PS TE battle.
I am old and don't know what my figures are doing from time to time. And you young hawks are too fast and I am slow and old to correct my errors.
It's all good brother...I'm pretty sure I posted an article the other day thats already been posted. We all make mistakes. I just thought I had missed some news.

One side-benefit of being old is that people cut me more slack when I forget stuff. I'm just an old codger whom they think is relatively harmless but not too on top of things. And another side-benefit is that I really don't care so much anymore what others think of me.
One thing I do know JJ, is that you add a good perspective to this messageboard. I do enjoy your posts.

No old friend were just old and the young guys just have to deal with, because we know more about the Bears past then they do. Just like the Cub fans we have been waiting way too long for they Bears to win a Super Bowl or at lease be a winning team.

#1 Howard #2 Cohen/Carey #3 one of the leftover guys
I would tend to see it this way too. IMHO Carey is a more effective RB in this offense than Langford especially since they just cut Cobb the other power type back they had. Carey has stepped up as a STeams guy and Cohen can fill the need for a 3rd down type scat back/pass catcher along with Cunningham who also plays STeams. Langford will have to have one hell of a camp and preseason to stick IMHO.

I hope this is how it plays out. As much as you hate to cut a guy only halfway thru his rookie deal, Langford hasn't shown enough rushing, receiving, or ST ability to justify keeping him.

Langford has never shown me the same toughness and consistency that Carey has and his big play value has turned out to be marginal at best. If we were to lose Howard to an injury IMHO Carey is the RB best able to take on a similar role. Now that he's also shown good STeam skills Carey reminds me a lot of our Adrian Peterson who was another RB who seldom ever lost yardage on a carry.
Langford, Cunnigham and Cohen can fight it out for that third down RB spot but I'm betting that if Cohen as some mad return skills he's the guy who make the team and maybe Cunningham as well. Langford has hit a wall and he's simply not all that good.
