Sowell sounds very promising, 27y, 5y experience, Colts, Cardinals and Hawks, 68 games, 21 starts
On the other hand - not good enough to play OL for the Hawks!
Swing tackle is usually not good enough to start. I don't look at the swing tackle as a potential starting type player that is in training. I want a guy that has taken his lumps and has experience that hopefully has seen enough to get the team through an injury.

Hey, it's good to have you back (I haven't seen you here in awhile).

But ranked something like 76th out of 78 ranked OTs. Sounds to me like another Bobby Massie only worse.
I guess my response would be a shoulder shrug and and unconvincing whoopee. I'm still nowhere near satisfied with that OL yet.
He played here in AZ for the Cards but wasn't very good (he was a UDFA OT so low expectations apply). He can battle it out with Compton for a backup role but the starters are pretty much set.

Doesn't sound like he was very good in Sea either. Again probably another camp body.
But I wouldn't count anything that happened in AZ, what AZ asks of its OT's it is exteremely difficult, not to many are going to be able to do it. Chicago is far more OT friendly, a LOT more 3 step drops, and few to any 7 step drops.
We saw that after an adjustment period, and 2 qb's willing to run the system the way it was supposed to be run, that Massie started to play really well, same w/Leno and the rest of the OL. 11 sacks in 11 games is pretty solid. And it was good enough that even after Cutler averaged more then 3 sacks a game to still be rated top 10 by F/O.

Ok fine but the Hawks had a pretty terrible OL last year and this guy didn't even get retained as a back up!

Ya this feels like another camp body like the other OL vet they brought in; maybe he sticks maybe he doesn't we'll have to wait and see.
Remember this is the time to fill out the roster w/bodies for OTA's and TC.
