DRAFT PROJECTION Round 6-7 BOTTOM LINE Intriguing physical traits and tools, but he will need extensive technique work in order to eliminate some of the bad habits that are holding him back. Teams will be attracted to his length, and one will take him on Day 3 (Rounds 4-7) and try and bring him along slowly as a left tackle lottery ticket they hope pays off down the line.
Tanner Gentry www.profootballfocus.com/draft-pff-scouting-report-tanner-gentry-wr-wyoming/ Bottom line: Although Gentry has not received a lot of hype to date, he put together a really impressive tape at Wyoming. While he offers very little in gaining yards after the catch, he makes up for that with his large catch radius and athletic ability, which allow him to make circus catches on off-target passes. Gentry has the ability and upside to develop into an NFL starter, but first he will need to gain experience against press coverage and how to beat against man coverage as he has not faced a lot of that over his college career.
Freddie Stevenson www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/freddie-stevenson?id=2558201 BOTTOM LINE Athletic lead blocker who has an ability to lead the charge either downhill or on outside zone plays. Stevenson possesses an aggressive field demeanor and a good radar to land strikes in space. He lacks third down value, but can grind it out as a short yardage ball carrier. There will be a very limited amount of teams interested in a fullback this season, but Stevenson has enough ability to make a roster if he gets a shot. -Lance Zierlein
Franko House www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/ball-state/2017/04/24/after-nfl-calls-franko-house-chasing-new-dream/100828754/ So when the graduating Ball State senior found out that the Chicago Bears asked if he would consider getting back on the gridiron, he was ecstatic. House worked out for the Bears and is now locked in on trying to follow in the footsteps of basketball-turned-football products such as Kent State's Antonio Gates and more recently, Indianapolis Colts signee Mo Alie-Cox, who hooped for VCU.
Since the basketball season ended, he's worked through a coaching internship with Byron Ellis, the football team's chief of staff. In addition to taking notes about how to lead, organize meetings and work players out, he's quizzed strength coach Ben Armer and former BSU tight end Zane Fakes on playing the position.
"Some if it was just little things, like learning how to get out of a 3-point stance, well, not really learn it but get comfortable with it again," House said. "I haven't done that in four years."
Mark Spelman www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2017/04/15/nfl-draft-projecting-state-prospects/100464900/ MARK SPELMAN, C, Illinois State (6-2½, 299, 5.25): Played at Milwaukee Marquette. Winner of the FCS Rimington Award as the best center in Football Championship Subdivision. Two-time all-Missouri Valley Conference pick. Started 42 of 46 games after redshirting in ’12. “He’s a zone guy,” said one scout. “He can move. That’s the one thing about him. He pulls well. He’s mobile. As a run blocker, he lacks strength. He does get pushed. He did 30 reps (actually 29) on the bench but he has no power at all.” Vertical jump of 27, broad jump of 8-7. Short arms (31 7/8), small hands (9¼). Projection: Possible free agent.
Awesome! Keep them coming. I love UDFA time. They cost nothing and some are really good. It's where the GM and HC have to sell the team. We have a SB coach. Should be easy, lol. Seriously I love this phase of talent recruitment
