Nice Place Ya' Got Here............

JABF; I think he wanted quantity over quality on the messageboard and sold his soul to get more traffic.  Then the board seemed to get to the point that almost anything was allowed.  There is a lesson to be learned there.  Maybe on this board it can be made pretty clear that there is zero tolerance for stirring the crap.  Maybe give one warning and then just pull the trigger.  If they are allowed back after a duration, let them know they are on thin ice if they pull any more crap.  

Our lives are probably all stressful enough already.  Why spend time on a messageboard that's just going to get your stress level higher.


If we do that then we'll have the place that Rick and I and at least a dozen other old school members wanted and had before the days of the Bar Scene and the invasion of the thread snatchers.  We had one turd farmer from the CBMB come over with his little herd of followers and he last less than two weeks.

It's not hard to moderate a forum when you have a zero tolerance policy about trolling and obvious troll posts.  You remove the post and explain to the poster why that's not permitted and how it might be done differently.  Then they either comply or it's sayonara.  It really is that simple.

I would much rather have a site of a band of brother here to talk Bears football and give one another some good natured shit from time to time than to have 1000 members running amok crapping on long time contributing members with useless garbage and messing the flow of posting up and from what I can see that's basically what the football forum at DaBears looks like now compared to how it used to look.

Rick sold his soul out long ago if you ask me brother and it's been sliding away ever since.  Quite a few of the old guard have left or all but left and the gals never post any longer.  What used to be a laugh riot some weekends 10 years ago has turned into a garbage dump and eventually it will go so far that it will turn into another CBMB type place or worse.

I will commit to supporting this site and offer to do whatever I can to help it thrive provided we operate on those same principles we did when we started DaBears.  Just let me know what you'd like me to do.
