I think if a QB doesn't go at 1 or 2 then no way in hell Pace trades down. He gets to pick the QB he wants and does it. If QB goes at 2 and it's the QB Pace wanted, I think he'll do everything in his power to trade down, and even possibly trade back up if One of the top 4 QB's are still on the board near the end of Rd 1
Possible but with the moves he's already made at the position I will be very surprised if Pace pulls the trigger on a QB at #3 no matter whose taken at #1 and #2. If he does so be it but I still think he has other fish to fry first.
In this draft I would trade down in a heartbeat. If we can get an extra draft pick and still pick in the top 10 I would be really happy. Theres Myles Garrt and then theres another 5-10 prospect that are really close. I will be happy with Foster, Adams, Allen, Hooker, but could also live with a QB, OJ Howard, Lattimore or Lattimore if we pick in around 10-15. So I would be really happy if we trade down a couple of spots. The talent dropoff from #2 pick to #13ish isnt that big this season imo
My Big Board for the top-10 with less than a week to go
1) Garrett 2) Thomas 3) Allen (assuming Bears are ok with his medical eval) 4) Adams 5) Trubisky 6) Howard 7) Hooker 8) Foster 9) Lattimore (though nervous about his injury history)
Pass rush/DL 1st Trubisky is the highest ceiling QB IMO--I could be convinced to reverse order between Trubisky & Adams I'd love Kevin King in the 2nd if he makes it that far

I used to be a "highest ceiling" guy, but now I am a "surest thing" guy. I'm fine with my guy not having the highest potential. First, it's usually never realized, and second, the guy who has the highest potential usually turns out to be someone else.
I'm done with potential. I want right now game film. Potential is icing on the cake.

I get it but "surest thing" is tough to quantify too. There are lots of players, esp at QB, who are/were really good college players but it doesn't translate to the NFL.
In our current situation (no "day 1 QB starters" in draft, have Glennon, still rebuilding), I think you go for highest ceiling in a QB in the upper-1st if you're gonna do it.

Yep we need more good football players and a couple of great ones more than anything.
The only thing with a high ceiling we should be concerned with is the indoor practice field so the punts don't hit it.

The trouble is I'm not sure we have a day one starting caliber QB on the current roster either.
