And not a single one of them worth the #3 overall pick without calling it a "hope and a prayer".
Seriously though.... what high QB pick doesn't have the GM pucker his sphincter and hope and pray?
+1,000 There will be at least one QB in this draft who ends up being a solid franchise QB. Would a solid franchise QB be worth a 1st round pick by the Bears? I think so. But that's just me.

oh I totally agree. I'd be kind of surprised if there was not one franchise QB in the bunch. And I'd also be surprised if anyone knew who he was. Or even if he is going to be one of the guys picked in the first. For every GM that picks one high in the first, it is going to be a high sphincter pucker factor, but if you want a QB, you need to take your best shot. It is still the best way to get one and hopefully not have to worry about it for the next ten years.
It's my belief that John Fox is already a "dead man walking". He's out after this season and Pace will finally get to hire "his guy" which I still feel Fox was not or at least not his first and best choice.
I have been slowly coming to that conclusion. I always wondered what the dynamics were for the hiring of Fox. And have wondered what the relationship between the two is like.
The two have always seemed an unlikely combination in my mind. I want it to work out and hope it might still work out but I will be interested to see how this draft unfolds.
Kizer looks slow to read, Trub is a total wildcard with some very bad moments in him limited tape, Watson is a hot route-or-run gimmick QB. Hopefully, we have scouts who can narrow down coachability and football IQ.
Can't say I agree much with this assessment.
Deshaun Watson :
- is he athletic enough ( yes ) - is his arm strong enough ( yes ) - is he tall enough ( yes ) - is he fast enough ( yes ) - is he smart enough to learn an offense ( yes ) - is he a leader ( yes ) - is he a winner ( yes ) - has he carried his team on occasion ( yes ) - has he performed when the lights shine brightest ( yes ) - can he take a hit ( yes ) - does he handle pressure ( yes ) - does he possess intangibles ( yes ) - does he have the it factor ( yes ) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- did he run the O from shotgun ( yes ) - is his accuracy always perfect ( no ) <<< see he's not perfect , and he's gonna hvae to learn how to take snaps from under center - therefore he's not worth a high draft pick ... case closed , end of story .

DUMB- da - Dum Dum . Smh + Ufb
In fairness, most top QBs coming out of college now, do not take snaps under center much anymore. If you ruled out these guys from the draft you'd be eliminating some of the best QBs. And as far as being a "no" regarding "is his accuracy always perfect?" - that can be said about any QB, even the best.
I do agree with you that no QB is a sure thing in this draft. It's always a bit of a crap shoot drafting a QB though.

Well chuck there's what's been said and then there's a more thorough look at what's been and is being done. Let's look at that.
Fox wants Cutler gone. That much we're certain of yet he almost single handedly damaged any chance Pace has to trade him for value by virtue of his unwillingness to back him over Hoyer as his starter last fall. Even though both Fox and Pace agreed that Cutler was their QB of the immediate future last winter Fox dumped him and tried to make his offense work with Hoyer instead. How'd that go?
On top of that at the Combine this week while Pace has been trying to work up trades for Cutler as well as indicating he may keep and that all things are on the table John Fox is very complimentary of Hoyer in an interview making it clear his choice is to re-sign him. Cutler's name is never mentioned so to other teams that serves as an indication Cutler will eventually be released further damaging any trade deals.
And finally Fox states he hopes they draft a QB he's a least seen. WTF kind of comment is that to make if you and your GM are on the same page? I'll stand by what I've said before. John Fox has done far more damage to this team with his personnel management than the players he has and continues to part ways with have ever done. Including Matt Forte four very good pass catchers have been traded on the cheap or simply released and we're about to make it five AND the starting QB as well.
So.....you tell me how this makes a whole lot of sense when to date we've not really had adequate replacements for these guys on the roster? It look far more like a demolition than a rebuild. So please for the love of God don't spend a top draft pick QB for this HC. He won't start anyway and neither Fox or Loggains have ever developed a top NFL QB. Fox doesn't even like rookie QBs so unless he's forced into that kid will not play this year and probably shouldn't anyway. Draft one later on whose a better value pick.
As for this Mike Glennon thing the only sense it makes to me is that Glennon is another Osweiler who Fox actually favored over Manning in Denver after they'd lost the Super Bowl to Seattle. Elway told him that wasn't gonna happen and to dramatize it a bit Fox says "whose the HC" to which Elway answers "who runs this team". They called it a mutual parting to be nice but the reality of it is Fox was let go because of this.
So.....John Fox figured he had a better chance of winning a SB with Brock Osweiler than Peyton Manning just as he thought Brian Hoyer was a better QB than Jay Cutler (and apparently still does) and this is the guy you want doing pre-draft evaluating of our franchise QB of the future? Please.... the guy is poisonous. Pace needs to start locking him in a closet somewhere and hope he can survive the season then get rid of him.
