We had a couple of talented TEs and dumped them. Greg Olsen is still, year-after-year one of the greatest TEs in the NFL. And of course we dumped M.Bennett for a 4th round pick, so Marty could help the Patriots win another Super Bowl.
Now we are debating how to improve the TE position. Again.
I try not to let this stuff get me angry. But it does.

It becomes laughable; at least they lucked into drafting Forte's replacement this year; even if that wasn't the idea. How they thought this TE group was going to be good enough is beyond me.

If Howard continues to play at a high level for the next couple years what are the chances the Bears offer an extension or if they just release him because they don't want to pay too much?

We spend a 1st round draft pick on Greg Olsen. We trade him for a 4th round draft pick when the guy is still young... 26 years old. The guy is still making the All-Pro and Pro-Bowls. For another team. The guy is rock-solid, year after year after year. But we dumped him for the 4th round pick.
Same with Marty Bennett. We got a 4th round pick out of that deal. Marty is still in his late 20's, so he is younger than Olsen... but Olsen at 31 is still playing at an incredible level, and I suspect Marty B will also.
Now we are trying to find a solid TE. It sounds like madness to me. How on earth do you build a winning team making moves like that? It's like we are TRYING to screw up our roster talent.

Better not, they lucked into another franchise RB, pay the man his money; just like Forte.
