Plus Long will be healthier next season. I know the line had a rough start (well mostly to the stupidity of Fox not having the OL set before the season), it did get better. I see Grasu as a backup. I hope they keep Long at G...
I believe Fox has already stated that Grasu will be the starting center and Whitehair will be moved to Tackle
I like the idea of Grasu at center and moving Whitehair to tackle. Whitehair played tackle in college so I think he could do well there. Sitton and Long need to stay at guard. I don't think it makes much sense trying out Long at tackle again.
Long was not just alright last year and then got hurt. Long was hurt the entire season which is why he was just alright. When healthy Long is one of the best guards in the NFL.

I just hope he can come back and be healthy. I just hope he isn't one of those players that has great talent, but whose career is cut short by continual injuries. Wouldn't that just be like the Bears luck? Finally land a great 1st round OL guy and then have his career cut short by injuries? It's like some horrible soap opera here on the Bears.

Long had one strong year in the NFL. Outside of that he's been good but not elite, at least not consistently elite. While I hope he returns in good health - especially now that we've invested so much money in him - we have the pieces in place to have a strong OL without him.

That's speculation. Regardless what position he played, he would have had an adjustment period to Fox's/Gase's new scheme. I think the main points here are: 1. Long has a lot to prove this upcoming year as he's coming back from two significant injuries / surgeries. 2. Regardless of Long's health and availability, the Bears OL should be an asset next year.

Everything we do here is speculation I don't think that Gases system would have been that hard of an adjustment when everyone else along the line didn't have an issue. The problem was trying to learn a brand new position that doesn't fit how he wants to play.
What he does have to prove is his ability to stay healthy, b/c health is a concern.
