ya there's just no reason to ever draft a punter, at least not until the 6th/7th rounds(MegaPunt). But honestly w/a day 3 pick I'm not that worried about it. I'm not going to fret.
I do like that they added this Edge kid though, even if it did cost a future pick.
Exactly, it's not a big deal but I consider drafting a punter anytime before say the late-6th to be a (minor) waste of resources.
I would rather have spent the 4th on Booker and try to sign this kid as an UDFA. If someone else takes him, oh well...just sign a different UDFA.

Not worth a 4th
I'm not disagreeing, but thinking that if this is the worst thing to happen to us in this draft, hey, I'm okay with it overall. To me it seemed like a very weird NFL draft this year talent wise. The talent seemed to drop like a rock after the second round or so. Certainly after the 3rd round. At least it seemed so to me. More so than usual.
For the Bears to spend that pick on a punter they must really really like this particular guy. A lot. And getting a starter there instead of a project "hope and a prayer" guy maybe makes a bit of sense. I don't know. Maybe.

The only real issue I have with it is that he could have traded down FOR SURE (IMO), gotten an extra pick and still got him. But not a big deal in the end.
