FA is mainly for filling holes. Getting too aggressive early in FA can saddle you with a bunch of contracts that puts you in cap hell. The draft is where you build the team.
I'm fine with Poles taking his time with this. I'm not a big fan of the Swift signing but the others look like solid additions. I would be very surprised if Poles opens up the bank for anyone this year. I don't think our QB situation justifies trying to go all in on big money deals. Maybe if we make the playoffs next year and things look like they're on the upswing we splurge on some FA guys to make a big push in the following years.
That's my take on it all too. I do like Poles being thoughtful about how he invests the Cap money. As fans we want the best of everything, as if there was a money tree growing at Halas Hall.
I think they have a couple of those up in Arlington heights. Why else would they buy all that land, Bears org is not a bunch of idiots!

That can’t be. When I bought the money tree, they told me it was the only one. When it didn’t grow anything, they told me it needed special Himalayan fertilizer. They flew it in by private plane. Now I need special custom made lamps to activate the fertilizer. I can’t wait for this to start dropping money. lol, those suckers at Halas think THEY have the money tree but I know better.

LOL, I hope you're right. With our luck the Illinois winter probably killed 'em off though. Maybe a couple of crinkled dollar bills still left for 1 cup of coffee if we're lucky.
I am disappointed we didn't go after one super star. Seeing that we're going to have a rookie QB contract for 4 years. Allowing us to eat some of the cap. But I do like that Poles is keeping the cap situation under control. Pace went crazy with it before he got fired.
There were a couple of guys I wanted, but they ended up signing for WAY more than I thought they would. Poles is playing this right though...as much as I want the Bears to sign everyone, that rarely works out well for the team that does it. Smart acquisitions is the way to play free agency. You can't be wreckless with cap space.
