Let's not turn this into the billionth Mahomes/Trubisky thread. In fact I will delete any of those posts if they show up here. This is not the thread for that. But, what about the rest of the players and units that we saw play yesterday?
Me and Ric have talked about this before on here. One of the biggest aspects of KC's offense is their speed. Hill runs a 4.2, Hardman runs a 4.3, Watkins runs a 4.3, Damien Williams ran a 4.4, Kelce runs a 4.6 at 255...I mean the speed is every where you look! That does a couple of things to the defense: 1. They have to adjust how they line up...corners may have to play off more, safeties have to sit back further, 2. Safeties have to wait an extra second to ensure they don't get sucked up on play action because they'll never be able to recover if they do, 3. It may take a while, but eventually the amount of full speed sprints the defensive backfield has to run to keep these guys in front of them or stay up to speed with them takes a toll and they just can't hang anymore.
Like the said...speed literally kills. With the safeties having to play back and ensure they don't get sucked up it helps open up the running game. With the corners playing off it opens up a lot of quick, short stuff for the receivers, and it makes zones even bigger in the defense.
We also talked about how Nagy needs more speed on this offense. Thats why Gabriel was such an important component of it. We all love Robinson...but this offense needs some burners on it. Who are some receivers that can fill the speed component? Robbie Anderson(4.3 40), Travis Benjamin(4.3 40), Philip Dorsett(4.3 40), Tim Patrick(4.4 40).

JABF, why are you torturing us like this. Another thread on what the "Hester Package" could have been. 🤔🤔

I'm thinking of starting one about Rex vs. Neckbeard Orton next :-)
LOL, we just can't let some things go. We beat dead horses at an All-Pro level. But I don't think I can spend the next 7 months reading a bazillion Mahomes threads.

Most of that game yesterday you didn't see many throws that wow'd you on either side, the best one in the first half was the Jimmy throw at the end of the half that got called back for offensive PI(wasn't imo). That speed, and the quality of that speed; Gabriel is speed, but he's not Hill, makes for easy throws b/c the defense doesn't know where you are going. W/the Bears on any given play the Def knows it's likely going to ARob, even if he was speed, you can bottle up one guy. Last night you weren't seeing these qb's tossing up 40-50 yard bombs all game, like Hub seems to be indicating. They were mostly very simple passes w/in 8-15 yards w/a few shots down field when it was needed. Speed works latterally as well as vertically in the pass game.
I saw two best TE's in football (arguably). I saw ridiculous speed. I saw beastly OL play. I saw Shanny blow another double digit Super Bowl lead (ouch). That RB Damien Williams (I think?) was an animal for KC. Honestly it felt like the 49ers blew it. Mahomes is something else but IMO that was a complete full team effort. He didn't just dominate and take over. It seemed like the running game, play calling, and missed opportunities by the opposing defense were all in the recipe for the win. Shows you need to be complete to compete.

Disagree on the PI...it was a pretty easy call IMO. But yeah, like you said, they have to respect the vertical speed and thus it opens up all the underneath stuff...which speed can kill too.

By strictes definition ya, but you see that play multiple times every game and it's not called.

I get it, but it's still PI. And as a defensive player I was glad to see it called. He extended his arm and prevented the defender from gaining coverage.
