This could be a very very good game for him on Sunday. Just one year ago he had one heck of a good game against this Detroit team. Hey, we pretty much have the same team, personnel-wise, for the game this year. Mitch passed for 355 yards and 3 TDs and no interceptions. It was a huge day for him.
The Lions defense this year is ranked 31st in the NFL in yards allowed. They are giving up almost 5 yards per run play. Their pass defense is ranked #30th in passing yards allowed per game.
I think this is just the right opportunity for Trubs to bounce back if he can bounce back. If it isn't in this game on Sunday, then it's probably not going to be this season. Big opportunity here.
Yep, I remember it well. One of Trub's best performances. Seems like ages ago, doesn't it?
He may very well bounce back and have another good one on Sunday (although we have talked about other weak or injured teams we have faced this year as "opportunities" and it still didn't happen).
Problem is, even if the whole team suddenly gets its act together, its too late now to save this season.

+1
I'm looking for, and hoping for, one big positive for the outcome of the 2019 season. I've accepted the idea that this is a bad year and it "is what it is" - I have to let it go. But one thing I am so hoping for is that by the end of this season, Trubisky will have made it perfectly clear that he is either "The Guy" or not "The Guy" and the team can move forward pretty confident in one of those two things being cleared up.
I don't want to have a situation like we've had in the past where we drag on for years with some middle-ground thing where we just don't know if our QB is the guy or not. Years are wasted that way. This is why I do hope they let Mitch go on the rest of this season. Let's be in a position at the end of the year where we dead-bang know this. Yes, many many fans have already written him off and that's fine. But I want it to be 100% clear TO THE BEARS ORGANIZATION so that we have either a green light to keep him, or a big red light that we need to move on from him.
And before someone jumps on me and says he won't be at his ceiling at the end of the year. Hey, I get that, but we should at least know if he's GOT a ceiling worth keeping him as our franchise QB. Or not.
