Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has found a good fit on the Bears defense, according to his position coach.
Bears secondary coach Deshea Townsend said safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who joined the Bears after 4½ seasons with the Packers and a half season with the Redskins, works well with the younger players and is a leader for them. But Townsend also thinks Clinton-Dix has been helped by being a part of a defense filled with talented leaders.
Clinton-Dix has two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, a fumble recovery and 27 tackles in five games.
“He’s a leader,” Townsend said. “I don’t know what he was before, what people thought of him, but that’s what I think he is because that’s how he comes to work every day. Sometimes for him, it’s just good to be in this situation where he can just play football, not worry about whatever else is going on.
“We have so many leaders on our side of the ball that he doesn’t have to be the vocal guy. He doesn’t have to be the focal point every week. He can just go out and play football. That’s helped him.”
