maybe but he wad at family fest lighting it up. depth at the position is crazy.
btw and off subject. apparently one of the negatives on Miller, dating back to this year and still this year is his undisciplined route running. stuff like running the route wrong maked him look open, but it wasnt going to be where Trubs was expecitng him so it wluld have looked like a bad throw, and its created some issues of trust and chemistry. that kind of thing works after you and the qb have worked together for a few years but its nothing they should be doimg now.
Yes, it is. Which is why guys like Mizell and Gentry not only have no chance to make the team, they may not even be PS candidates anymore.
BTW, barring major injury Wims has pretty much locked up a roster spot IMO. He continues to make plays.
I won't count anyone out of the last 1 or 2 spots yet. Mizzel had the best catch of camp up until last night by many accounts. I wouldn't guarantee him a spot either. ST's and versatility are going to play a part in that final spot.
Agree on Wims that connection seems to be getting built w/Mitch. Mitch seems to know where to throw the ball to him, or he just has such a huge catch radius that it doesn't matter as much.

And this crazy depth at WR has huge ramifications over the 2020 and 2021 season regarding cap stuff. We have some pretty large contractual obligations for Robinson and Gabriel. If we can replace their contracts with relatively cheap rookie contracts, it gives Pace a lot for room to move in.

I'm making plausible projections, not set in stone until after PS of course, but merely what seems most likely. Mizzel failed last year as a RB and return man (he pretty much sucked) so his chances of making the 53 are hanging by a thread as a converted WR. Given the ridiculous depth at the position--the Bears, can't believe I'm saying this, have at least 8 WRs IMO who realistically could make an NFL roster somewhere this year.
There are 5 guys, again barring major injury or a surprise trade, who are 99% roster locks--Robinson, Miller, Gabriel, Patterson, & Ridley. That leaves only 1, max 2 if they keep 7 WRs, roster spots open for guys like Wims, Mizzel, and the two Halls. For the reasons I've already gone over, it seems to me that Wims has the inside track on the 6th spot.

Ridley and Wims strike me as two guys who could potentially be an ARob replacement down the road. They're under cheap rookie contracts for the next 3-4 years respectively.
I also think Pace is gonna move Gabriel in trade next offseason. Even if you don't get much for him the motivation would simply be to unload his contract to a team with more need at the position and the cap space to fit him in.

For both ARob and Gabriel a trade would be preferable to a simple release. Besides the value of what you would get in return, you also lose the dead money hit in the cap.

Very true ^^^^
The kicker though is you have to find a trading partner who's willing and able to pick up their contracts. The Packers tried that with Mike Daniels and ended up simply releasing him last month because they couldn't find a partner.

Agreed. We won't get much, if anything. And ARob's contract gets pretty pricey see starting in 2020.
