... “WHEN HE SURPRISINGLY WASN’T DRAFTED, HALL HAD OFFERS FROM 25 TEAMS — AND THAT COULD HAVE BEEN 32 HAD HE NOT AGREED TO COME TO CHICAGO SO QUICKLY…
…NAGY AND THE BEARS’ PERSONNEL STAFF HAD TO BE THRILLED TO LAND A PLAYER WITH HALL’S SKILL SET, ESPECIALLY WHEN COMPETING WITH OTHER TEAMS OFFERING MORE FINANCIALLY, AND PROBABLY LESS IN TERMS OF WIDE RECEIVER COMPETITION.”
With our current crop of UDFAs, I think out IR/PUP will be very creatively used.
Me too. Think I said this shortly after the draft, but yeah the Bears now have an embarrassment of riches at WR. What a difference from a few years ago when we had Inman, Bellamy, and Wheaton.
They're gonna have to get creative and I think Hall and the ND OL are gonna end up getting the injury redshirt this year somehow. EHall is not going to survive an entire season on the PS without getting poached. He may not even clear waivers to get there in the first place.
The Bears are obviously a team that is very attractive to players now. An innovative team on the way up. Players having fun. Great coaching staff (loved that comment about how he instantly connected to WR coach Mike Furrey). Light years from what we had under John Fox.

It certainly is a welcome breath of fresh air...I can tell you that!

I think Hall's career at Missouri was similar to Montgomery's at Iowa State. Both were very talented and productive players in basically inferior programs. Hall has something of a history of soft tissue injuries and some analysts (primarily Lance Zierlein - see tweet below) were talking about Hall having an attitude. So I can see why he fell out of the draft. But if the injuries are ot a concern and if the "attitude" is not really an issue, I agree. He is fast and very physical as a receiver.

He clearly has draft-worthy talent, probably round 3-4 worthy so even if he had some nagging soft tissue injuries and/or “attitude” problems, some team is going to take a chance on him for the future IMO. Do all 31 other teams in the league go 5-6 deep at WR with players who are better and/or cheaper than Hall? And that’s even before inevitable injuries start piling up.
i think if the Bears want to keep him they’re either gonna have make him game day inactive on the 53 or find a way to PUP/IR him for the year. Be really surprised if he stuck on the PS all season.
The bears would be wise to find some way to keep him. If the above issues are overblown or things from from the past that more maturity will fix, Hall is clearly a future Gabriel replacement for 2020 at a much cheaper price.

Just think, Pace had to litterally scrape the bottom of the barrell just to get some FA just to come this team six years ago.

I'll also point out how many people were angry at some of the FAs that Pace brought in prior to last year. Some years there aren't a lot of options and the few better options end up going to teams with proven records. This was always going to take some time. Glad the ownership stuck with Pace and his plans.
