Hi everyone, I've been doing the forum signature images for a few years now. This year my time is going to be more limited on the computer due to working on the house and traveling. I'll be here almost every day, but that's different from doing the siggy's. It does take a significant time commitment to do those right. LOL, yes, I'm retired now, but I actually have less computer time now than before. Mrs JABF has a honey-do list that's got me hopping :-)
And if we don't have anyone interested, I'll give it a shot again, but it will just take longer than in past years. That may not be an issue for most here though. Let me know. - Dave
I can give it a go. I know my way around photoshop and I've done clan signatures before. What's the usual process?
I just throw something together for an image that is the appropriate size for the messageboard. I do a new generic background template each year that I use for all of the signatures. Really, I just use my imagination throwing this together each year.
I then find out what player the posters want on their new siggys. I then just find an image on the Internet and crop and size it to fit on the background template. As far as the order of completing the siggys, I just post a thread and whoever requests a guy first - he gets that guy, and I work "first in = first out" and knock them out in the order I received the requests.
I never had any training with any this. When this forum began we wanted custom siggys, and thought I'd give it a whirl. I didn't even have money to buy the imaging software so I just downloaded a free imaging program called GIMP (LINK) that is a poor man's Photoshop. Then I spent time (by trial and error) trying to learn how to use it. Everyone here was so patient with me, because I really didn't have a clue to what I was doing in the beginning (still don't to be honest).
I would LOVE to have you take this over. I am still working on the house renovation here (I'm about to lose my mind... complete one thing and it seems like 2 more things need done/fixed). I really don't have much extra time this year.
So here are few templates I came up with. I made them in way so the text and images can be moved around depending on what pics or other stuff people want on them.
This first one was just me messing around with logos trying to find something interesting looking. (Click on them to see full size).
This one is a retro 80s style.
This is a vintage style.
I am open to other ideas. So if there is something that catches your eye post it and I'll determine whether it's doable or not.
That vintage is awesome! That gets my vote! Especially since we're celebrating 100 years this year...
I've done stuff like this before too, so I understand that it does take a lot of time and effort. JABF, thanks for all the hard work doing this in the past, and thanks forward to Payton for taking this on.
