He's versatile, he knows the Ravens D (which isn't going to be far off from the system Chuck is about to implement), and can bring a veteran presence to the locker room with playoff experience. Granted, I'd rather keep Amos, but if not, Weddle would be a guy that would likely replicate Amos's best quality, being in the right place and not making mistakes. Obviously Weddle would have to be a stop gap. If the Bears are making a run, he'd be a good piece. Plus, he wouldn't impact Chicago being rewarded a compensatory selection, as he was cut and won't be involved in that equation.
Also, if Amos values himself like one if the best safeties and wants to be paid like it, he could demand upwards of 12m per season. Weedle could probably be had for what Amos should go for, or cheaper.

If someone pays Amos $12m/yr, then I'm afraid I'd let him walk. I like AA don't get me wrong but he's not a ballhawk safety.

I don't disagree, but I don't know what he values himself at. Athletes aren't always predictable. I mean have you seen ABs mustache? Hahahaha

Ultimately, what Amos (or Callahan) "values himself at" is of course meaningless. It's what the market will pay. I'd be shocked if any NFL team would pay $12m/yr for the skillset Amos brings. He's more of a box-type strong safety than a rangy ballhawk type of free safety and the latter tends to command higher prices.
I could be wrong and we will soon know when reality intervenes.

But is it meaningless? Alshon valued himself higher than Pace valued him, or at least didn't get the contract he liked. What I'm saying is, if he (unreasonably or not) feels devalued by the team, he may not come back. He could also prefer to play for Vic. Either way, there's no guarantee he comes back.
