Going by this chart the Bears are expected to loses around 3.5 more games this year coming up. In the NFL nothing is a given. You might look good one year and fall off the next ( See the 2017 Jags ). Some important questions need to be answer.
Did our reliance on Parkey cost us a Super Bowl?
Can we keep a similar Win/Loss this year now facing much tougher teams?
Would attempting to bring Kareem Hunt improve our chances at Post Season Success next year? ( Edit: Turns out the Browns just sign him )
The injury factor is a complete unknown & it is a huge factor regarding our upcoming season. It looks like the Bears will face a tougher schedule. But on the positive side, that could be a good thing if the team hits the playoffs playing solid ball against playoff caliber teams in the regular season. A 2nd season in Nagy's offense is a positive, but I don't know what to expect the 1st season with the D playing for Pagano.
My gut feeling is that if the team is relatively healthy with key players (Trubisky, Mack etc), then the team will do better than a 1-and-done in the playoffs. But who knows... it could be anything. That's why you play the games. You don't know squat until the games are actually played.
You are already hoping we lose more games next year. Are you a closet packers fan hoping to jinx us?
You are an interesting person brother. If you need to talk to someone send me a PM, Ill give you my number we can chat if you want?
Who's hoping we lose more games? I'm just trying to keep everyone expectations from going too high.
In the NFL no team is guarantee to get better every year. In fact judging by the chart below a team will usually get worse after their breakout season.
What are the teams that dropped off? the chart spans from the 1978 to present...I would also like to know more context on all the teams. Injuries, FA's gained vs lost, players who might have retired.
Hard for me to judge the Bears next year going off this chart alone. I think they will be fine and have a similar type of year record wise, if key positions stay healthy.
First 6 games are probably going to have to be more on the Offense while the players/coaches on the Def are getting used to each other.

Interesting stat motm. I mean it does make sense that many teams w/ quick turnarounds have a worse record in year two simply because unlike the previous season, we'll play at least two games against division champs instead of 4th ranked teams.
One other point. It's not like we're doomed if we don't win 12 games again this year. The Patriots won fewer games this year and went on to win the Super Bowl. I think I'm just wanting to see the Bears get into the playoffs again, and be fairly healthy at that point. And the team will have a 2nd regular season in the Nagy offensive scheme, and the Pagano defense will have a regular season under its belt too at that point. Trubisky will have completed his 2nd Nagy regular season too. So the playoffs could see the Bears being MUCH better. Getting an NFL-caliber kicker will help too. I'll personally volunteer to drive Parkey to O'Hare to ship him outta here :-)
The hook on this graph is the "equal or better record" the following year.
Here's a couple links for some of the top one year turnaround teams LINK1 LINK2
Some mentions from the links...
2004 PITTSBURGH STEELERS (6-10 TO 15-1) Well yeah they probably aren't going to get 15-1 or 16-0 the following year... BUT they did win a SB in 2005 with a shittier record, and then another one 3 years later.
1999 INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (3-13 TO 13-3) Still made the playoffs in 2000...they did dip in 2001 when Edgerrin James only played 6 games, but managed 9 playoff appearances and 2 SB appearances after that.
2008 MIAMI DOLPHINS (1-15 TO 11-5) Didn't do crap after this year but i do believe this year was just a weird coincidence. This was the first year of the WildCat.
Take it for what you will, but the better perspective would be "teams success" for the following 2-3 years or more, rather than the "equal or better record" the following year. Like JABF said, even though he compares to NE lol, but they don't need a better record to have more success next year.

either the most epic troll ever, or the most pessimistic/negative fan I've ever known. Reminds me of my father in law(not a Bears fan really not a NFL fan) would walk in to the guys watching the game, make a few negative comments, kill the vibe then walk out. In laws said he has always been like that; just a giant vibe killer.
