Donald held in check for most of that game is why I'm nervous regarding the draft capital and cap space given to mack. guy is a beast but any one player can be held in check. and Donald has a lot more around him then mack does.
For me it just re-enforces what many of us have said. No DEF player is as critical to a teams success as a QB. All this talk about elite DE/Edge rushers and elite DTs being all you need is/was silly.
Donald is without a doubt one of the top 3 defensive players in the league. I'd take him on the Bears in a heart beat. But think about what happened that night. Belichick/Brady/McDaniels schemed Donald out of the game. Pure and simple. And there wasn't much the Rams could do to counter scheme. Where could they hide him? There are really only 4 spots he could have gone. (RDE/LDE/DT over LG/DT over RG). The two time DPOY was schemed out of the championship game.
At this point, if I was a jacka^% (which I must admit I am most days) I'd say that maybe drafting Donald that high and giving him so much money was a bad idea. I mean, you can find a DT anywhere in the draft and how many championships has Donald taken his team to anyway. See how silly that argument is? Maybe we can agree to stop using it?

need 1 special qb with really good talent all around, or need an elite def with a good enough qb that wont throw away the game and a special rb, and hope you dont run into a tram5 with a special qb with really good talent all around him.
love mack glad he is a bear and that gb doesnt have him. but there was a huge cost and it could end up hurting more then helping in a long run.
