The special teams coach. If a kicker doinks FOUR on, you do NOT have him as a cluth kicker. Parkey should have been gone mid-season. ST coach should be gone.
obviously "goal-post" gets it, but I voted for other---Def as a unit apparently forgot how to cover on that last drive. McManus didn't even try on the TD.
speechless.
The defense held the super bowl champs, who are white-hot right now - to 16 measly points. 16 points. The D did an awesome job tonight. It all came down to Parkey crapping himself and costing us bigtime. If Parkey is back next season due to the fat guaranteed contract, well I'm gonna be sick every time I see him on the field. He is the weak link on this team. Certainly not our defense (or anyone else for that matter). The guy folds like a lawn chair in games.
yes Parkey missed the kick. but the def had to come through on that final drive and they didn't. Blame Fangio for rushing 3 on one 3rd and long, blame whoever didn't try on the Tate TD, but to be elite they needed to come through and they didn't. poor tackling , wide open TEs...should we go on ?
its ok to blame the defense when they don't play up to their elite status.
I'll say this. It's easy to blame the Kicker for missing it. However, without him you wouldn't even have been in the game.
You're right. We wouldn't of needed to be in the wildcard game.
IF the offense is playing the way it should, and the defense is playing the way it should, it should never come down to the kicker. Period. If it does, other people are not doing their jobs.
And oh yeah, MN cut their kicker after the Packers game. He went to the Raiders were he didn't miss a FG the rest of the season. But for a Field goal at the end of that game the Vikings would have been in the playoffs.
It's easy to blame the kicker, but a game is never really about one play. Taking the emotion out of it, we all know it. The Bears had over 59 minutes to do more, and they didn't get it done. No more, no less. (But, yes, cut him!)
I'll say what I always say to Vikings fans ... scoring 15 points, at home, in the playoffs, against the defending Super Bowl champs isn't gonna get it done, boys! Regardless of how good your defense is, you should be scoring more than 15 points if you realistically expect to win a game, especially a playoff game.
So I will ask, how much did Burton being out hurt you guys? Think having him would have made a significant difference?

But much like you're putting it on Parkey for folding when it mattered, the D folded when it mattered. Parkey hit every kick this game he had too...up until that last one. The D held the Eagles all game...until they didn't when it mattered. They folded too!
