Two stats stand out for me. 17.7 ppg and finally rose to #1 in NFL. Fantastic! Second, Howard almost got to 1,000 yards despite the screwed-up way he has been used this year. Yesterday was partial redemption. He got 21 carries for 109 yards and 2 TDs against one of the best run defenses in the league.

I really think he might be dealing w/an injury. He only got 2 less carries then his rookie year, and 26 less carries then last year, that's less then 2 less carries a game . It's not like he wasn't used that much different. But did you see that 40 yard run to start the game? He looks slow and hobbled. It wasn't fast, and it might explain why he was used different to start the season, and only now come dec he's being used more closely to last year.
Def stat is striking, but so is the O stat also is, 26 is a TD and FG better then last years 16 ppg and just under that from the previous years 17 ppg. Now some of that is b/c of how dominant the D is, and some of that is from Def turnovers/scores thmeslves. But Most of that is just the O being better, being less obvious and going w/what ever the def is going to give you. There is no #1 WR in that there is no WR that is going to get the first look every play/every game. They were going to take whatevert he def told them to take and they did it happily w/great success.
You would think that the qb pressure/sacks were the primary reason for the uptick in picks, but when you look, they have had a steady improvement in sacks every year, but the int's stayed flat 3 years and the had a huge jump. Part of this was the db's upping their play.

The play of the DB's this season has been incredible. Jumping routs and hard hits have WR's as scared as the "D" line have the QB's scared. Great to watch after years of medocre play.
I'm not, hasn't been a ton of yac most of the year. Mullens and Mahomes have beenefited far more from their wr's and schemes then Mitch has. Actually I thought I posted a stat I posted somewhere on this site that Mahomes led the league in 5 yard passes that went 20+ yards. Yet people kept talkinga bout how all Mitch did was dink/dunk and let his WR's get yac. He benefited from one memorable Cohen screen this season.
