It's easier to claim Mitch doesn't have "it" than to claim otherwise.
In the first case all these guys will fall back on ..he finally got "it" good pick by Chicago. They lose nothing, no admitting they were wrong just the escape of "he turned it around."
The second case does contain a bit of hope (I am one of the second guys, because it's more fun hoping it's just newbee jitters than bitching about another Bears QB.)
You'll notice that no one is going back to re-evaluate that next great Dallas QB. Even posters here that were all up in arms about the Bears missing Dak don't dare bring him up. Wonder why that is?
But I don't pretend I know anything about QB evaluation. So.....what do I know? Just that this is the most fun I've had watching the Bears since Rex was chucking it deep.
Bill Barnwell is the armpit of nfl analysis, and his followers are apparently idiots.
Just an fyi, PFF is the ass of nfl analysis
I used to like Barnwell but ever since he left football outsiders he's simply parroted the mainstream media narratives. He used to be willing to question and dig a little deeper, but now....he's no better than Lombardi or anyone else at ESPN or NFL.com. Did you see where NFL.com had Mitch listed as the 26th nest NFL QB?
Waiting for the wife so, more to post cause I'm bored.
The narrative that he can't throw to his left is of course now forgotten. But man that was a big talking point last season.
Oh and "dropped interceptions" don't really count. Know how I know? Because Rogers get all the love for the week one comeback but no one ever mentions Fuller dropping the pick-six. Dropped interceptions are worthless as a way to evualate QB play.

I call it the twitter effect, he's gone for simple 30 character hottakes for likes and retweets over actual analysis.

LOL, I love "analysis" where the analyzer conveniently omits parts of the data that don't fit his narrative.

How can you have any sort of meaningful communication with a 140 character message size limit?

I would agree Barnwell's not quite as good as he used to be. I think he has fallen for the easy temptation of doing Rosenbloom nonsense where you just shit on everyone who isn't elite because it brings page views. I still will take most of his articles over most writers as he usually does a good job of providing interesting statistics even if I don't always agree with his interpretation.
Well I think I might introduce the Mitch Ranking, my hardcore statistical based ranking system. Because it is a hardcore statistical based ranking system, I'm not arguing with anyone. Come up with your own ranking system.**
Blake < Mitch < Andy < Drew
**The Mitch ranking takes in every facet of information about todays games that I could glean from the redzone channel in Spanish while trying not to die while in a BBQ Ribs coma while suffering in 90 degree heat with no air conditioning. Meaning while I faded in and out while lying on my too short love seat because son #1 had his 6' torso on the other couch. And of course I reserve the right to change my ranking based on anything I read from now until the end of time.
