The Good
Chicago missed you Jordan Howard.
I just saw Tarik Cohen's “Thunder and Lighting” quote and I love it. Those two just owned the freaking Steelers....the STEELERS. A thank you letter to Loggains too for remembering what it was supposed to be this year. I do worry about Howard's shoulder, but holy poop did this offense need that. You have your game plan for Thursday Night now too. Just try to remember the rookie TE a few more times please. Good on him for his first NFL catch being the easiest TD this offense has seen in generations. That is how invisible he has been in this offense thus far...the entire defense forgot he existed.
And welcome back Kyle Long. Solid game for coming in cold, but I think playing RG was a big reason for that. I think all talk of him going to LG just died.
Sherrick McManis turned into a one man wrecking crew in the Third Phase. Something that unit needed even worse. Good on the Bears for sticking with him just what he brings to special teams. It seems like forever now since special teams had multiple positive impacts on a game.
It was the big boost by a run heavy offense and big special team plays that propelled them to their first win in September under this coaching staff. However, the real star of the Chicago Bears is becoming their Defense...again.
This secondary is far from perfect, but is getting much better every week. Good sign for a unit that looked very worrisome just two weeks ago. Linebacker depth is even more worrisome, but nowhere near the disaster I thought it could be against a very good running back. But anytime you can get into Big Ben's face early and often...you deserve a standing ovation. No easy task there and extra love to McPhee for making me look like a jerk. I will leave you alone this week...very good game. Same to you Willie Young.
You all are giving me reason to believe again. Just stop with the shots at your own feet already....please?!?
The Bad
Hey Marcus Cooper, “**** you!”
Seriously?!?!?
No really.
Seriously?!?!?!?!?
What really sucks is Cooper really is our best cornerback. Stellar job this season. I so want to be a fan.
But no. You...I mean...I just.....
SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?!?
You better shatter the league record for EVERYTHING for me to even begin to forget.....nah, that won't work either.
Speaking of people I wanted be a fan of...Hroniss Grasu. I really wanted you to workout at center. For as great of a job Whitehair has been doing at center...I like him better at LG. I like Sitton, but you have to be able to look past him and Grasu gelling at Center would really being a huge win. Alas, the last I heard he is in a cast. Bears lose again.
However, despite trying pretty hard at times to do otherwise...Bears Win. I will move on.
The Ugly
Hey Marcus Cooper, “**** you!”
Really and truly not over that one dude. I am going to need time.
(Maybe some hard drugs)
Mike Glennon threw 15 passes yesterday.
12 of them to running backs.
It is not that Glennon was bad, but talk about completely neutering the passing game. It's like Glennon is already playing back-up to another quarterback in front of him that does not really exist. I thought they asked him to do nothing against the Falcons...this was less than L
There is a silver lining to all that ugliness now though. Mark my words...Mike Glennon is a dead man walking. You will have to see one more re-run of this show on Thursday night, but that game plan reeked of Loggains throwing the towel in on Glennon. The Bears will use their extended break and extra practice time to give The Rookie the Car Keys.
The run game is working. The defense is working. Special Teams has someone working overtime.
Oh yeah...the Bears won a game before being five games out of first place.
The time will never be more right...especially if the Bears pull an upset this week.
(Unless somehow Mike Glennon looks like Aaron Rodgers against Aaron Rodgers, but...yeah...not happening....)
And if Mike Glennon does start in Week Five....this section is going to get really ugly.
