It doesn't strike me as right because if you want a QB coach, then hire one. Hire Sanchez as an assistant QB Coach and give him rookie baby-sitting duty. The last QB the Bears hired because of his value off the playing field was Jonathon Quinn. That worked out well didn't it. Sanchez might be one of those brings-a-wealth-of-preparation-experience and can teach a rookie how to be a pro. I hope he is.
I don't know if Pace takes a QB this draft or not. I can't get a feel for it. I don't necessarily agree that signing Sanchez means Pace is drafting one. I think signing Sanchez gives Fox his vet backup. Now the draft doesn't fall right, Pace and Fox both have cover. Pace can argue that they were prepared to draft a QB, they brought in Sanchez as a mentor and the draft just fell wrong, leading to Glennon/Sanchez/Shaw. Fox is happy because he doesn't have to walk past a QB room and see Glennon/Shaw/rookie.
Yep...had dinner with Mahomes the other night and have a private workout with Kizer set up. They're drafting a QB...I'd be utterly shocked if they didn't. I just hope they don't wait till round 2 to do it, because I don't see anyone worth drafting in round 2 IMO...depending how the draft falls of course.
Obviously none of us know who Pace has picked as his QB in the draft. I used to think that Kizer would be available at when we pick in the 2nd but I have changed my mind. Now I expect the run on QBs to be at the middle or end of the 1st round and the top 3 or 4 will likely be off the board by the time we pick in the 2nd.
Now I expect either Trubisky or Watson to be available at #3. I really hope Pace takes one or the other as I think all that will be left at #36 will be Kaaya, Webb, Peterson, etc. And IMO these are all long term developmental QBs (maybe up to 2 years).
agree, that is pretty much my hope. Sanchez signing has me worried that we are hoping somebody falls to rd 2 and we end up with nobody.

QBC is going to be busy w/the starting QB same as the OC. So you bring in a vet qb that can attend to the rookie and help w/questions he might have that the qbc/oc don't have time to deal with.
