The 0 is our achilles heel - so I think they should draft someone for that side of the ball : QB , WR , OT . I dgas what the analysts think ( about some of the defensive players having higher grades ) . Fine . This team needs more talent on 0 , so that's where they should draft .
If not , then congrats on losing games because you haven't invested enough on the offensive side of the ball . It WILL happen .

Agreed and it all starts at the QB spot. Are we really going to roll into the season with Glennon and Sanchez as our ceiling? If we do, Pace is either a genius who's outsmarted and scouted everyone in the league or he's a fool. I'd wager the latter of the two options. I don't think he's a fool though. I think he's going to get a QB early either in the first or second round - possibly through a trade up.

I think so too, the only thing the bothers me is that I think hes going for a QB in a 2nd, 3rd or maybe one of the 4th rounds... And that could be a big miss, especially if we go 2nd round.
I don't want to temper the Solomon Thomas love but there is one not so optimistic writeup on him that is recent and NFL.COM's wekness analysis may indicate he does not warrant the number 3 pick:
Walter Football:
As expected, Thomas had a good workout at the combine. NFL teams aren't as high on Thomas the media though. In speaking with sources from seven different teams, six of them thought that Thomas is more of a mid- to late first-round pick. The issue that is coming up the most with Thomas is that many teams feel has tweener size with his best fit coming as an end in a 4-3 defense, although he lacks length for that position. Teams that run a 3-4 don't see a great fit for him.
WalterFootball.com was the first to report that Thomas intended to enter the 2017 NFL Draft. The junior enjoyed an excellent 2016 season as a big presence in Stanford's defense. On the year, he totaled 62 tackles with 15 for a loss, eight sacks and one forced fumble. Thomas has good speed off the edge with strength and physicality. Off the field, he is getting high marks for character and work ethic.
NFL.COM:
WEAKNESSES Considered a "tweener" by scouts, who believe he could struggle to keep enough weight on his frame to play along interior. Length is below average as five-technique. Plays with inconsistent pad level. Needs to get bigger and stronger through his lower body. Tends to play taller as play rolls along and can get washed out of plays by strong down blocks. Hands are quick but need more consistent pop behind them. Overall play strength can be improved. "Big and strong" across from him causes some issues. Gets engulfed at times. Snap-count guesser with seven offsides penalties in 2016.

I want our QB of the future and drafting him now seems as the best possibilty. I'm done waiting for it to happen. the other part of me wants us to build up a D for Ages... a D that will make the Legion of Boom look like a bunch of average guys.
I know that 2nd wouldn't last Long and is a crap shot either way. Shaw won't be part of our Team when the season starts. It will be Glennon + Sanchez + Trubisky/Watson/Kizer/Mahomes/Webb/Petermann/Kaaya
I'm a huge fan of Thomas. I've seen that report. I just find that kind of thing a bit funny. He's a tweener at 275...ok...but if you plan on deploying him as an OLB than is he really a tweener? Further, while playing 5T full time would probably be asking a lot I think he has the ability to line up at d end in certain packages.
