I know some were worried the team as not spending enough money in free agency. But apparently they are spending the money. LOL, that doesn't mean we got the right players, but they have spent the cash so far.
okay lets spin the BS 1. I am not sure there is another team in the NFL that needs help at just about every position on the field. Most NFL teams only need that one experienced player because the rest can be gotten through the draft. 2. Every team in the NFL is willing to pay good money for one top player, Pace spent big money on a QB who only known talent is riding the bench except for his first year he spent 95% of the time on the bench. There are still good talented FA that teams will get, but not the Bears because Pace would rather keep the for owners then get competition for TC.
When I posted this I wasn't saying it's a good thing or a bad thing. Just posting the tweet by Leming about the Spotrac numbers on the Bears. Don't shoot the messenger :-)
Bleacher Report has a grade out of the Bears FA, mostly B's, and mostly b/c they are potential guys w/front loaded contracts, so if they don't work out you can move on from them next year.
Something it did say is that the CB's fall exactly in line w/what Fangio wants to do w/his CB's, and they weren't always used that way in their previous stints.

I would give the Bears the same grade overall - a "B" due to the fact they had a lot of holes to fill, rather than being a team that only needed a player or two to make a super bowl run. There is a difference between a team like us that has needs everywhere, and a team that is loaded with talent already and can afford to pay a huge commitment to a single player or two.
I feel like we are in a better position to go into this draft now that Pace has added these players. The final roster that goes into the regular season could be a lot better than we think right now. But who knows... this is why you play the actual games. Nobody really knows what's gonna happen right now.

Yep, did a couple mocks yesterday and showed the potential game day rosters after FA and the draft, and the team, outside of a true #1 WR is better then it was last year. My guess is, same injury issues, 5 or 6 wins, relatively healthy year, 8 or 9 wins....depending on how the draft goes.

Agreed, they do have a lot of holes to fill but why do we seem to always try filling the same holes all the time? This is what makes them look only like a revolving door of second tier players most of the time.
It took us nearly a decade to put a team of Pro Bowl level receivers on the field and less than three years to watch them all leave or be sent packing. So once again this goes to the question of how do you rebuild when you're still in the tear down mode?
I think it's best to wait 'til December to grade this years UFA crop. Unlike a draft class a vet UFA class can be evaluated year one with both performance and availability counting towards that grade. I'd much rather under rate this bunch and end up pleasantly surprised than continue to be somewhat disappointed with the overall results as I have been in the recent past.

I dont think you are right at all. Last year ILB was a major hole, not this year. Year before that DL and OL. 2y ago OLB... None of that is a major hole today.

That is a good point, Soul. Especially since we are not grading them on past performance, but rather on how they ACTUALLY perform in a Bears uniform this year. No two teams and coaches are alike, so it'll be interesting to see how these guys do here in our schemes with our team/coaches.
